Technology

Everything You Need to Know About the New Gmail

Summary:  New in May, Gmail gives us features we've needed but perhaps didn't know we needed, all in one update - including snoozing, self-destructing emails and Google tasks in your inbox.

My take: At first, I couldn't wait to turn on my new Gmail interface. But after using it for 2 days, I turned it back off. The new features are appealing, but I'm not comfortable yet with the new look.  Anyone else having more success?

Summary:  Every once in a while, you’ve got to clean up the parts of your marketing program that don’t regularly get your attention. In the everyday hustle, this stuff can easily get neglected.

Why I picked it:  Numbers and bullet points make this one an easy skim, but don't let that undervalue the information. Save this to revisit in the winter, green industry friends.

Human Resources

Is Your Hiring Process Accidentally Exclusive?

Summary:  Your hiring process is a reflection of how inclusive your company is and there could be several areas where people, by virtue of their background, are being unintentionally excluded.

Why I liked it:  When was the last time you assessed your hiring and interview strategy from an outside perspective? A fresh set of eyes may gleam insight into unrealized opportunities.

Green Industry

HOA Board Responsibilities – It’s Not as Difficult as You’re Making It.

Summary:  Many HOA board members feel stressed, overworked, and under-appreciated. And in most cases, board members are their own worst enemies.

Why you'll like it:  Think outside the box when following up with potential leads. Instead of the standard "just touching base" email, forward them something valuable that can help them personally. This is shareable content.
